So Much More Than A Job

Slate Countertops

For A Sophisticated Look

**All natural stone materials are products of nature. Variations in characteristics such as color, shade and veining are to be expected. Stone in natural light vs. artificial light can also change the look and feel.  Photos provided are meant as an example only. Please call us to set up an appointment to view slabs and discuss material options for the best look and feel.

Slate is a fine-grained rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. It is the finest grained foliated metamorphic rock there is.

Not only is slate a unique material it also boasts some of the most handsome features of all the natural stone products. Many fall in love with this stone because of its simplistic, uniform features that come in shades of black, pewter, brown, grey with highlights of blue and green in certain instances.

Slate is an extremely durable material holding up to the likes of hot pans, sharp knives and even eliminating bacteria from harboring on the surface due to it’s non-porous state. As with any material it does have a few downsides. Slate can be very brittle, so in order to avoid cracks and chips we recommend the corners be rounded over. Some homeowners even use slate backsplash as a type of chalkboard for their kitchens and bathrooms to add that little bit of extra flair.
