Marble comes in a variety of different colors such as Carrara marble (sometimes mistakenly spelled"Carrera marble"). This is a type of white or blue-grey marble of high quality. It is quarried at the city of Carrara in the province of Massa and Carrara in the Lunigiana, the northernmost tip of modern-day Tuscany, Italy. Typical grades of Carrara come in A, B & C. The lower the grade, the more grey can be seen in the stone. Also the lower the grade the lower the cost on most applications. That is not to say the more greyish Carrara is less durable or stylish as many choose the level C types marble specifically for it’s predominant grey veining.
Emperador Dark Marble is also a type of popular marble used in many bathroom and kitchens. It is quarried from a bedrock quarry near Novelda, Spain. In this particular marble, it will be normal to see white crystals and veins that are concentrations of white and clear calcite. This is a rock composed of sharp fragments embedded in a fine-grained matrix type of stone, which accepts well certain types of finishing such as polished, honed and others.
