Limestone Countertops

For A Calming Yet Subtle Look

**All natural stone materials are products of nature. Variations in characteristics such as color, shade and veining are to be expected. Stone in natural light vs. artificial light can also change the look and feel.  Photos provided are meant as an example only. Please call us to set up an appointment to view slabs and discuss material options for the best look and feel.

Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed largely of the minerals calcite and aragonite, which are different crystal forms of calcium carbonate. Most limestone is composed of skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as coral or foraminifera.

Durango, one of the most popular and versatile of all limestone types can be found in various parts of any home. It's prized for its neutral creamy and soft earth tone colors, which allow it to mix well with other stones and finishes. The naturally made stone is formed over time from shells and fossils and is shaped by sand and aquatic life. Because of its origin many people choose limestone as their stone countertop due to the fact that it has a unique backstory.

Homeowners choosing this type of stone must be careful not to scratch the surface because limestone is not as hard as an engineered stone such as quartz. Also without proper care, limestone can become easily discolored if stains are left to sit for long periods of time, so proper maintenance is always recommended. Despite these few imperfections, the overall look and feel of limestone is comparable to that of marble; an elegant and timeless appearance.
